The Ban-y-gor resurgence discharges 1.5 million gallons of water a day in winter into the River Wye. The source of the water has yet to be found.
Efforts have been made to tap into the potential cave system above the resurgence, and the Ban-y-Gor Cave was dug in 1980.
This is a tight cave throughout it's 620m length, and it also serves as a flood overflow to the main resurgence in wet weather. Not for the faint hearted, but enormous potential.
