Big Sink is another fairly recent find in the Forest, and is quite significant as the downstream end of the cave is the closest point in any of the caves to the Slaughter Resurgence.
The entrance series has a number of shafts that were dug before the breakthrough was made. Care should be taken when climbing these shafts, which can become quite wet if the surface stream is flowing.
The cave is fairly sustained in terms of obstacles, in particular the 200m narrow rift, which is very awkward to negotiate when carrying tackle. Not an enjoyable trip for the larger caver.
The end of the cave is blocked by stal, and visitors are requested not to go through the formations towards the end for conservation reasons.
